Day Three and a Podcast to celebrate!

25-11-20 15:56

Day three of the One Community and today a podcast. The episode features some of the key stories of the first two days and is followed by a conversation with Explorer/ Runner/ Cave Diver - John Volanthen. John has a background of multi-sports but became a little more widely known recently, as the cave rescuer who reached the missing Thai soccer team trapped in the Tham Luang Cave in 2018 and ultimately helped bring them out to safety. James explores how John approaches risk and manages difficult situations such as cave rescue, through sport and in day to day life.

The episode is available here and via all of your good podcast apps.

Well done to everybody keep up all the good work!

Day One Recap

24-11-20 08:00

Day One of One Community Part II is underway for our 1500 runners. Not many finished on day one, but a few did and amongst those were two of the days spot prize winners, Keith Simpson who clocked a superb 11:53 in the MV70 50 mile category, a target that will be hard to beat as well as Paul McLeery who finished his 100 miles up and down Hastings Sea Front.

The story of the event so far belongs to Sarah Marshall who was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2013. Her longest walk in recent months has been 480 metres but she has set herself the target of completing 5km over the course of this week. On day one she managed 720 metres towards her target, supported by her husband Phil who is running the 100. You can support their cause via their fundraising link here

Other spot prizes are being sent to Philipa English for her FV70 marathon on day one and Harry Payton for a super opening 5km towards his weekly target of 10km in the U7 category.

We will follow more stories as they unfold throughout the week. Happy running everybody!!
